Long story short.
G-K 1001RB first generation. 540 watts at 4 ohm, 350ish at 8 ohm. Not being run anywhere near max volume.
I bought it used from a pawn shop. It seemed to be working well and was a fair price, so I bought it. It had one original driver and one eminence Delta. It sounds fine and gets really freekin loud. I have no complaints about this purchase even if it died tomorrow, so don't think it's buyers regret about the amp.
I have no idea how much abuse 2x10's can take, so I put a 2x10 EA cabinet under it to share the power. This thing rocks! However, two nights ago the sound gets fuzzy and I take a good look at all four drivers and see that the original driver in the G-K cab is tearing. I will buy another Delta to match the first one, but my question remains this, Just how much abuse can two ten inch drivers take? I mean, this amp will make a massive amount of sound. I would like to just bring the combo to the gig, but if I need to bring an extension cab just so I don't waste another driver, I will.
Amp setting are usually
volume-noon
Treble-noon
Mid High- 10am
Low Mid-10-11 am
Bass-9 am
Voicing 4 string, Contour- 3 pm, Presence- 2pm
Boost- noon
woofer- 8-9am
Again, I am not complaining or anything like this, but can two tens take this much volume - power - excursion without getting destroyed?
Thoughts? Questions?
