GK 400RB volume cuts in and out

Hi all,

Was recently gifted an old 400rb and an epiphani bass cab by my bands old bass player. (He’s the singers dad)

Unfortunately the volume output level drops intermittently while playing.

Any idea what this could be? Worth fixing?

Use an instrument cable to connect the FX send and return sockets. This will show if the return socket is a little dirty. That could cause your intermittent problem.

I have owned two of these amps and both of had the same symptom that was described. Cleaning the effects return jack fixed them both. Using a jumper will bypass the normally closed switch in the jack and will make the amp work just fine until the jack can be cleaned.

Also try gently wiggling the input jack and listen for scratching sounds or loss of signal. My 800 had a bad solder joint on the jack to board connection that drove me nuts until I found it.
