GK 700rbII Question? need your advice GK users

Do you think the GK 700rbII head will go good with an EBMM Stingray 4H and A Mesa Powerhouse 4X10 Cab. Im looking for PUNCHY"NESS does the 700rbII have that. I was gonna buy the 2001rb head but i really don't need that much power, im just playing alone these days in my apartment, plus the 2001 is going for like 1300 before tax and stuff and the 700 is going for like 600..so lol. I was looking on harmony central for reveiws on the 700 and it dosent rank as high in sound quality as the 2001..wonder why that is, the 2001 ranks 10/10 the 700rbII 9.4/10 good score still. also i saw that there was a GK 700rb, head whats the difference between the 700rb vs 700rbII ? thanks for the help

I have both of those amps and they are both great amps IMO. The 700 rb is 350 watts plus 50 watts to the horn in GK cabs, the 700rbII I believe is 500 watts and 50 to the horn,...The 2001 is a monster. It has 2 540 watt amps(@2 ohms), plus a second channel for a distortion sound. I think you'd be quite happy w/the 700rbII. Happy hunting!

if you are just playing in your apartment, then the 700rb-ii could get you evicted. heh heh. and it sounds great- very clean, but can also get wicked growly if you set it right.

I imagine that it would pair great with the PH410. GKs are quite punchy and fast. That would be a very tight modern rig.

I think you will be quite satisfied with the 700RBII paired with that 4x10. I have no experience with that specific cab, but the controls on the GK will allow you to dial in any sound pretty well.

IMO, the cab controls more of the punchiness you seek so I may not be addressing your tastes specifically; but ss far as power, GKs are great amps and I think this pair will allow you to play clean at a good volume and then get some good GK growl without being uncomfortable. I love my 1001RB (not the II, so its similar in power ratings to your 700RBII) and find it to be well defined and almost too clean (it feels like being punched) with either of my cabs (4x10 or 6x10) until I start dialing around and bring in the good GK drive I love.

I think you will be very well suited with this setup.

Had a 700RBII and it kicked major booty! I ran it with a GKNEO112 and AvatarB210NEO. Never had to go past noon on the master vol! Lots of headroom, very clean but can get dirty with the Boost knob!

Only reason I sold it was b\c I wanted a hybrid head.

It's a tried and true solid state head!

Having endorsed GK in the past, I got to spend quite alot of time with the stuff.....I got the most versatility out of the 1001 II RB. The 700RBII sounded nice, but with a larger cab configuration with higher volume, it was more prone to dostort....just from a lack of headroom. If you're going to keep the volume levels low, you'll be fine with the 700RB. The Ernie Ball bass is going to punch hard....They do that. If anything, the GK head is going to slick up your tone a little bit. It has some gaps in the mids even when everything is set flat. The only time I've played through Mesa cabs, I thought they were nice & earthy....pretty punchy/ a bit sluggish, but overall, good. The pair might be "the" sound you're looking for. The GK heads are quite versitile while maintaining that "GK" sound. Have you thought about a different head? I'm currently using the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 & it kills! It has a little bit of that "GK" vibe about it...a little hype in the top end....it has a nice, honest midrange & a full low end response. It'll do 600 watts @ 4 ohms & weighs less than my 3 pedals. The price is right. That's for sure. I hope some of that helps.

lol yah sorry man. Im just on the fence between both of these Cabs but after months and motnhs of searchong fot eh right Cab, ive come to a decision....the 700rbII it will be. Now im happy i won't have the loudest rig but it will be tight ,smooth and sexy, thaks for your help guys ive posted alot of threads asking alot of questions about Gk heads, so thanks for the advice, now im going to order the head off of musicians friend, cause they ship to Canada,
