To avoid a flame war....
Oh well.
Sometimes in some places the ideal is stacked. Particularly if you’re not in the PA. I’ve seen too many major acts with great sound, Doobies, Eagles, Marcus Miller have their cabs side by side to think there is only one way.
Ultimately if my band likes it and we are rockin it and people are coming back and I can tell by the response that the bass is doing out front what it’s supposed to then typed opinions on even the Albert Einstein Forum hold only so much weight. Why? They aren’t there with you in that room or outside in that humidity or temp at that time. I appreciate the science and then make my choices.
Two twelves I’d probably stack most of the time as they aren’t that tall. Start stacking 4x10s and it can be too clear and articulate and not a part of the music.

I don't own these cabs, but anything I have owned in the past (Eden, Ampeg, Mesa, Fearless), everything is stacked and I am going through a PA system (sometimes I carry the room). Stacked allows me to hear it clearly and depending on the acoustics in the room, the low end is just fine. Sure, I would get more low end if I kept it on the floor, but I want myself and others to hear the notes I am playing. Not just a wall of mud.
