GK MB and Fusion

Hi guys.

I'm currently looking for a new amp as a replacement of my old Peavey T-MAX. I've tried GK 700RB and 1001RB, the new compact heads from TC and Mark nd the Aguilar 500SC all of which are brilliant (Aguilar the best, but too expensive since I'm actually not very active in playing). However I've seen and heard about GK's Fusion and MB series and the MB Fusion. Does anyone have any experiences with them and how are they compared to the two other GK's I mentioned? I'm playing a custom build Mørch 5 stringed Bass with active seymur duncan soapbars and extralong neck (36")

Cheers

i have played 400RBs and 800RBs for years, and i got my first MB2-500 today. so far it's great. played the heck out of it, very loudly and it held up well at the jam room. def has the GK growly tone and very powerful little light thing. i never owned the 700/1001 RBs, but i think it is def like a more powerful 800RB to me. i am using a passive Washburn Taurus 5er and it thumped quite well. haven't tried my EMGs in it yet, but will soon.

I am going to use this thread to ask a related question.

Are the Mb2 500 and Mbfusion 500 the same physical dimensions?!

I know that the MB2 is 3 lbs. 12 oz. and the Mbfusion is 4.5 lbs. but is it just extra tube weight and not a physical jump in dimensions?

I've been using the MB2-500 for the past 4 or 5 months now and I am very impressed with it. It's the first GK amp I've ever had so I can't really compare it to the others you mentioned but it sounds great. I'm running it into a Genz Benz Neo 2x12 cab or a basic 1x15 cab. It's still pretty amazing to me that such a tiny head can push so much sound. I have read alot of negative reviews and such with this amp pertaining to countless problems and failures but I have not had even the slightest issue. It's been nothing but a reliable, powerful and all around kick ass amp for me. I'm thinking about picking up a Fusion 500 in the near future as well.

It is about one inch deeper. The extra weight is for the tube supply and tubes.
