GK MB series questions

I've been seriously considering picking up one of the GK MB series amps, the light weight got my attention! So, here are my questions...

1) are digital amps reliable and there any tone difference from a standard SS amp?

2) Can you get a real nice deep bottom end with this light of an amp?

3) would you trust them as a main gigging amp?

4) do they get as loud as an amp with the same ratings and speaker size? (I know this depends greatly on the amp, but just a rough estimate is close enough)

1) Yes reliable and no tonal differences.

2) Yes. My MB500 is actually too bassy. I have to roll back the bass.

3) Yes. Class D amps run cooler. I would be more worried about blowing the speakers.

4) Heck yes they are loud. My MB500 is almost too loud.

Agreed. My EQs are all at 11-1:00, with the exception of bass which is down around 10:00. I use my MB210 as my main gigging amp and I dont own a backup. I gig at least twice a month.

And "loudness" ive found is in the eye of the beholder. Go to a store and try one.

1) I haven't had My MB500 for very long but so far it has performed without a hitch. It is similarly (not exactly) sounding to a GK 700RB

2) Bottom end on it is huge. In fact I often have to roll of the bass.

3) I gig with it exclusively (without a backup) and I play somewhere in the region of 8 to 12 gigs a week, excluding the rehearsals

4) It is as loud as I'll ever want to go. When I need a lot of volume I will take a second cab.

I just don't know if I could part with my Trace Elliot gear and I would have to sell it to get the GK MB combo. The closest place to try one is a good 45 minutes away and I drive a van so if I'm going there its because I can afford to buy one. I know people say to try them out in the store, but lets be fair you can only crank it to a point in a store. I really love my TE gear, the 15" cabinet is by far one of the best sounding cab's I've ever played through. My Trace Elliot head is an RAH-130, the loudest 130 watts I've ever heard. I just want to be sure the GK MB will sound as good/loud as my current rig. Plus there is the fact that my TE head is early 80's and still works perfect, never an issue and I'm used to that kind of reliability.

If it is really only the light weight that got your attention and you do not have physical problems that keep you from being able to move your existing gear, I suspect you are better off keeping what you have.

Still, if you have more or less made up your mind that you want to change, since you are already using a 15" cab, you might want to consider the MB115 instead. It is not much more money nor much heavier than the MB112 and I suspect it is closer to being a replacement for your existing rig than the 112.

Its mostly the weight/ease of transport that has my attention. I'm not getting any younger and my back often aches badly. I play mostly classic rock, blues and some Motown. I like a nice rich deep bass tone with nice mids and highs. I play a few different basses, P or P/J pickups on all, all strung with Chromes.
