I've been a user of these amps for 20 years and I don't know what to get to replace it. I don't love the Acoustic Image thing. I have a a small extension cab from GK that might work great with a little amp head. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance!

Mine finally died this summer. So I'm temporarily combo-less. :meh:
If I had that extension cabinet, I might be tempted to try one of those tiny 200W heads. (Probably TC or G/K but there's a lot to choose from.)
I'd like to try one of those AER combos. (Probably used - the new pricing kind of knocks the wind out of me.) Or wait another year and see if G/K comes up with a nifty - and comparatively affordable - update to that trusty old classic.
Happy hunting!

Keep a constant eye on Guitar Center's used section. I've seen them come up used many, many times for decent prices and decent shipping rates. Just make sure to call the actual store so you can see if it is a rattler! That's the biggest issue I've had with these amps when they get old.
Oh they rattle all right! I kinda wish I didn't like them so much. They give me a lot of trouble TBH

I've heard lots of people like this amp for a GK option. I have the TC Bam200 people rave about on here and it's pretty wooly with the cab I use. Either amp might sound good through a GK extension amp, though. If there is any way to get your old amp repaired, I'd go that route.

I found an old 80's 200MB that I'm very happy with. Not as loud as the MB150, but I like the tone perhaps better. I think there is one sitting on Reverb for 450 that you might be able to make an offer on. I had to replace the driver eventually and redo the foam under the speaker grille on mine but it ended up sounding great with no rattling at all.

Not real happy with the Bam into the metal cabinet.
I don’t always love the tone out of the 150 but I’ll never sell it.

I always say that the 150 sounds sort of crappy on its own but works great in the mix of a band.

A few steps above crappy but it delivers a clean tone which wouldn’t be described as natural by anyone who had experience with Acoustic Image or that type of amp. However, it’s character and effective EQ make it a safe bet in almost any situation.

If mine had not been stolen out of the trunk of my car in '94, I'd still be using it. The EQ on the 200 MB is voiced perfectly for upright. I saw this thing, also on Reverb, that's the same amp as head only and would go nicely with your cab....
