GK Neo 212 Cab Grill Buzz

I'm getting a slight buzz from the grill of my GK Neo 212 cab when I play notes higher up on the scale on my E and A strings. It's definitely the grill because when I place my foot on the grill it stops buzzing. Has anyone else heard of this happening or know of a way I can get rid of this buzz? My band is going to be recording this weekend and I would really like to fix the problem by then.

Make sure your screws are tight and that there is a big rubber gromet between the speakers is all that I can think of.Sometimes if you just take the grill off check everything and then put it back on the rattle will go away.

Well, I've taken the grill off a couple of times during the process of eliminating the speakers from the list of "things that cause buzzing". The screws are all tight, I'm just not sure what else I can do. I was thinking about buying some really thin foam padding and placing it around the grill for a nice tight fit.

Thanks for the advice, I'm pretty sure it's not the emblem because it's fairly snug. It's just that the edges of the grill are not super snug against the tolex and it's causing a little bit of buzzing/rattling when I hit a note on say the 15th fret of the E string.

I have a NEO 410 that had the same problem. I tried tightening the 4 screws behind the grill with no luck. Changes in temperature, transporting the cabinet around will make the wood shift and/or the metal grill will expand. shrink, and warp. The best way I found is to lightly tap the grill and listen to where the buzz is coming from. Then take the grill off and apply a small strip of THIN foam tape on the edge of the grill where it meets the wood of the cabinet. You may find that all sides of the grill will need this done.

I owned 3 Neo cabinets with this problem, and all 3 had loose screws and misaligned grills. My latest Neo 410 out the box rattled in the right corner. This was eliminated using the tape.

Thanks for the info, I did this prior to reading your post and I still got the sound so I was thinking to myself, "what the hell?!" and I pulled off the grill. Sure enough the second woofer is making the noise. Looks like I'm contacting GK about this.

The Neo112-II cabs I had rattled a little when I turned them up. Coming from the speakers. This was easily fixed by tightening the screws holding the speakers in place.

These are some great cabinets, especially for the price. I can live with having to tighten a couple screws. Still, if rag could get the manufacturing team to adjust their torque wrench a little...

I've tightened all of the screws on the speakers, that's not the problem. It's the woofer itself. It's rather disappointing, but it's under warranty. It's not like I beat on my cab either, I've barely turned the volume up past 3 on my amp.
