GK pink ring of doom

Behold…the Blue Ring Of Victory! The ring looks white in the picture, but you can see the blue reflection on the bench below my MB200. The ICE power module swap was a success!

With help from my son in law we replaced the power module today in my 2010 MB115. Pink ring is gone. Now, we’re true blue. Gave it a pretty good workout this afternoon, too. Thanks to those who offered tips! I’m a happy camper!

Eh, figured I'd drop by to update this thread to modern times.

There are too many of these red ring of death stories with GK combos. If you search online, you can find a ton of them.

Tone wise, I have enjoyed my two combos - I have a 112 and a 115. The 112 had fried a few years ago. I had to send it back, and it did come back to me repaired.

I played it a bit more then stored it. Just took it back out today, and I'm back to another red ring of death.
Rather than bother with a repair, I'm tossing it in a dumpster.

If/when I buy another amp, it won't be a GK.

I wish you were near me, I'd buy your blown amp. At one point I converted mine to passive cabs and put Deltalite II's in them. Worked great but I converted them back as I ended up with way to many cabs

And reviving this thread once again… I too got the dreaded pink circle of doom and thanks to the wisdom here, got my new PCB and am back in business! Also thanks to Agedhorse, I got the voltage setting correct.
