GK Repair

Gents,

I have an mid-80's GK 200RCB that may have breathed it's last @ practice last night. It was super hot, (it gets pushed pretty hard) and I heard a little pop, then it was reduced to about 1/2 the output, and slight cracking sounds were heard.
Should I investigate trying to repair it? I like the looks of the MB200 quite a bit, but the RCB almost can be looked upon as "vintage" gear. Not in the SVT mode or anything, but is it worth to try to fix, or should I get the the MB200 (or both)?

It's almost certainly repairable. Probably just a bad capacitor or something. It's kind of a classic.... if you like it, get it fixed.

So.......get a MB200 while the 200RCB is at the doctor. (My answer: Both).

Yeah, get it fixed. Get another amp while you're at it. can never have too many.

the old one is definitely worth getting fixed either way. the mb 200s have a different sound alltogether imho. not in a bad way, they just sound different. and repairing older gk's usually doesntg cost all that much.

Picked up the MB200, still trying to 'tweak'. The EQ isn't as friendly, but love the silent practice aspects of it. I will fix the RCB.
