GK700RB: When to use Volume/Woofer

I had a couple of the bigger RB amps, but only used a single 2x10 cab most of the time. You can't really throw 400-500 watts into a 2x10. I sold those off and got a 400RBIII. The low end isn't as thick at the MB digital series, but they are sound really good. It allows me to get the amp in it's sweet spot at much lower power. I found even better sound with I experiemented with different 2x10 cabinets. Some brought out the growl even more...

Funny...... I find the rb's have more "heft" than the mb500. I actually thought the bl600, even without the "5 string" voicing to have a bit more going on organically than the mb500, even though it's rolled off on the bottom.

Just a little side track here. I tried to rack a 700RBII in a two space rack and realized it won't fit unless you remove the rubber feet from the bottom. Any harm in doing this ?

There shouldn't be any problem removing the feet, however, you need to make sure you have enough space over the top of the head..... the fan is on top. I think GK recommends at least 1 1/2 inches.

I don't rack mine, but transport it in the shoulder bag. Very nice. I've gigged mine a ton over the last 3 1/2 years, and there isn't a scratch on it.

No harm in that - I had to do it with my 700rb-II, and also had to flip the front panel handles around so that the lid could close on an SKB 2U ATA rackcase with one of those amps...
