I've watched Jeopardy for years. Every night i'm home it's one of the small things my (competitive) wife and I enjoy watching in the sea of crap that is TV these days. I've always liked AT. I lost my dad 11 years ago to pancreatic cancer and I know how insidious it can be. Unfortunately, because there are no symptoms early on and no real tests for it, it typically doesn't end well. Nothing but good vibes to him!

Lost my grandmother to it a few years back, and it took one of my favorite directors a few years before that. Gram was 77. Kon was 46.

Don’t know what it is about the pancreas of all things, but my understanding is that’s the kind of cancer you don’t get better from, though it’s at least got the courtesy to do its work quickly.

At stage IV, they don’t make dice with enough sides to show how slim his chances are, but if he wants to go down swinging for his own peace of mind, then give ‘em hell.

I am a doctor, but not a physician, so my opinion is not authoritative. I suspect a Pancreatic Cancer is deadly because it is an internal organ, not a part of the body readily accessible to a typical exam, so by the time people show symptoms, they usually too far gone.

I hope that scientists are working on a blood test for Pancreatic Cancer. That would save thousands of lives.

I've lost a few friends to it. Due to a genetic anomaly, I'm at high risk for it. Knowing this, I've done a little reading. The reason it's so deadly is that it's very hard to detect. The people who survive (something like 8% of people who get it) are usually diagnosed early due to being scanned for something else. By the time most of us will be diagnosed, it will be too late. It's asymptomatic for the most part until you are well advanced. I hope Alex Trebek will be well. Stage IV is not where you want to be at diagnosis, though :(

Trebek’s pancreatic cancer was in remission. This is almost unheard of. He’d resumed hosting a new season of Jeopardy.

Then this week he announced that he’s suddenly lost weight and had to resume chemo.

Dammit. :(
