My current set up is a Fender Jazz going into a Sans Amp RBI then into the board. I have my own monitor mix and I can show up to a gig and walk in, all in one trip (priceless).
My previous rig was an Eden WT-405 and a XLT210, I loved this setup, it had the tone I liked and just sounded nice (but too heavey). I DI'd into the board.
I bought the RBI based on so many favourable reviews. At first I ran into the front of the Eden, the tone was ok but I prefered my Eden tone (the RBI is a bit of a tone sucker). Now I run the RBI straight into the board (purely because of the weight savings, I can't lug the Eden around any more).
I am getting used to the preamp into PA concept and I can live with hearing myself through a monitor but I can't get used to the "depleted mids".
Here's my question, is the whole concept of running into the PA and through a monitor killing my mids or is it the RBI's fault (or both)? What other pre-amps (in the same price range) should I be looking at?
Thanks
