Congrats at a sweet price. I got mine off ebay last year for $550 in pristine shape too. Now, I cant be in the same room with it without wanting to pick it up and jam on it. Funny thing was, I didnt want to get the Geddy Jazz because I am such a big Rush fan that I thought it would look totally fanboyish. But after doing tons of research, it really is one of the best basses for the price out there. Plus I already knew want it sounded like

Well, I went to check it out last night. The seller told me it was only about 6 months old. It was in absolutely pristine shape. Still had the plastic coating on the pick guard. Neck was as strait as anyone could ever want. Nice low action with just a bit of buzz if I really dug in. I felt nothing loose in the tuners and the intonation was dead nuts. One sweet bass. Now it's mine.

Congrats! If you want some extra thrump, throw some Rotosound 77 (flatwound) strings on there. Sick tone man. Oh yea, and no pics = no bass!!!

Yeah, I hear that. As you can probably guess by my moniker I'm a BIG Rush fan myself.

My other basses are a '79 Rick 4001 fireglow - at least not jetglow and a '73 jazz that was originally a very light natural finish. The piece of wood used for the body was not all the great looking so I refinished it in black. It looks just like a GL except it has a dark (rosewood or mohagany?) fingerboard with pearl block inlays. I put Badass II bridges on both. Not too much of a fanboy, eh? I don't care they all sound great.

I was looking for a new bass to use for gigging since I didn't want to subject these other two to any more "road life". And when this ad hit the local Craigs List I had to check it out because of all the great reviews I've seen. Playing it last night for about four hours I wasn't disappointed. A bit tired at work today though.

Do ya really need anymore pics of a GL? They all look the same! LOL

But, I'll see what I can do.

Dont bother with the pics of the Geddy...I think we all know what it looks like. But seriously, I think the Geddy makes a great regular gigging bass and I plan on hanging on to mine for a long time. I had thought about experimenting with a preamp or new pickups just to see what I could get from it, and if I didnt like it I could always pull it back out, but for now I am happy with the sound. The only other bass I can see myself getting now is a Wal...yes, a $6000+ Wal...its my holy grail of basses and someday I will have one (but I wont be gigging it at some dive bar in a shady part of town that much I can say!)

Now, find the mega thread with Geddy's bass tech on here and start firing questions at him (if you havent already!)

I was wondering what it would sound like with some flats on it, just to get some old school thump...I may just have to try this as well.

I just started reading that thread yesterday. On page 17 right now. If I can think of anything that hasn't been asked already...

I just ordered a set of D'Addario Chrome flats (ECB82). I've got these on the '73 and love 'em. This is the best price I could find in a quick search...
