I think we can infer from the video that the answer to Joe's question is "No, you cannot play punk sitting down." As proof, he did not sit while playing. What more do you want?

Well, really, to make the point, he should have sat down so we could then hear the horrible fail coming out of the bass suddenly at that moment, and then marvel at its sudden disappearance upon standing again. I really don't think that is too much to ask.
