the irony of all this is I have F.A.K.E on my knuckles and "faux" in my sn but I hate being fake so i'd rather avoid the fake blood. I do like the idea of the lit cig in the head stock though. In a poorly lit bar that could look pretty interesting. The cutting probably will screw up my playing though/deaden my strings if the blood got that way (which it probably would). Don't want things to be to rehearsed but at the same time I really need to be aware of the do's and dont's.

As far as the band goes - old school punk band.

you've never watched a movie or a tv show??? it's all fake. it's no problem to use props. but knock yourself out( I mean that literally since you will pass out if you lose too much blood on stage). :bassist:

I'm thinking of getting self violent on stage to add to the intensity of the stage performance (burning myself with lit ciggettes, cutting, breaking glass bottles over my body, etc.)

That is not entertainment ... that is sick. Self destruction is a mental health issue. Don't even consider going there. It will end badly.

What was that New Zealand metal band with a voice/bass/drums lineup whose bassist got hospitalized once because he cut himself a little too deeply with a razor, and another time because he had some open cuts and was playing around with some not-so-fresh deer body parts on stage?

Yeah... there is a potential downside. TBH I'm all for doing over-the-top onstage, but nothing that will require time to heal.

My current singer used to be GG Allins singer way back in the when and was great friends with him until he died. (He's now an insurance guy selling commercial insurance, go figure)

GG was pretty extreme. He would **** and piss on stage. He'd have sex on stage all that fun stuff. He cut himself too but it was more about shocking people than really hurting himself.

According to Billy aka my singer, GG was a really nice guy was pretty happy most of the time and very intelligent. He figured that because of his intelligence it was his duty to **** with people. Did I mention that he was mentally unstable?

FWIW my singer's name is Billy Hamill. He played with a band called Gutwrench and a few others. GG was his drummer but I can't remember the name of the band off hand.

I'm not sure harming yourself is a good way to achieve what your going for. you can go crazy but it only takes one mishap to mess you or your bass up. why not just jump around, head bang, or get a junky bass and beat the cr@p out of it. I'm not a fan of punk music but from what I've seen, those seem pretty authentic.
