Gold plated cables?

Do they really make that big of a difference on the sound you get? Is it clearer and less crackly?

If you've got crackly cables then you need to repair or replace them, maybe a bad solder joint or broken wire. Gold plated jacks are snake oil.

The advantage of gold is that it doesn't corrode. So, the plugs/sockets will last longer... but the cable in between will no doubt fail long before then anyway... With regular hardware, if you get crackling when turning the plug in the socket:
1) Don't turn them
2) Clean them

As previously indicated, gold plated cables are a solution to a problem that isn't really there.
