I bought a used Gold Tone M 25 fretless acoustic bass with the cream rubbery strings on. I'm going to change to La Bella Silverbacks - anyone know what kind of action height you'd expect to adjust to with those? Thanks, Max
All uke bass piezo strings are generally high action because of the larger vibrational arc compared to steel strings. But the very low tension makes them easy to play despite the high action. I've played the Gold Tone solid body uke bass which has an adjustable height bridge, but the M25 looks like it doesn't have any height adjustment capability. Does it?
To illustrate, I had a custom made uke bass that started out with rubber strings and then was converted to tapewound steel strings later on. You can definitely see the difference in string height/action.
The Gold Tone M25 doesn't have any means of adjusting the action height apart from using the truss rod, or presumably removing the bridge saddles and reducing their height, like a steel string guitar.
