hey folks, new here and I'm not really a bass player (yet?), but I picked up this little guy off the For Sale ads here and figured I'd share a bit. Nothing too exciting yet, but here's a video on my setup process:

You REALLY need to set the witness points on the strings over the saddle. That curve over the saddles is nasty and will affect the intonation in a big way. Set the witness points, re-adjust the string height and re-intonate. And don't forget to set the witness points at the nut and the tuners.

It looks like the E and A strings (and to a lesser extent the D and G strings) are "flying" over the saddles which can effect tone and intonation. Set the witness points at the saddles and nut.

Also with the bolt on neck you can use shimming in the neck pocket to lower the action height.

Hah! I told you I wasn't a bass player. As a ukulele and nylon string guitar player, I have never heard the term 'witness points' but found some other threads here and it makes sense. I'll have to give that a go and report back.

update: I set the witness points and it did help a little. The E string is still not exactly right, but it'll do.
