Road Toad Pahoehoe, string_store. They take a long time to settle in and need to be clipped a couple of times, but are smooth and sound really good.
Thanks - that's pretty much what I was thinking, but it's nice to have someone as experienced with these basses confirm it... Now, do I go for the 21" scale ones? - my new to me micro is 23" scale...
Because they stretch so much, you can use 21, that's what I use on my Gold Tone GT MicroBass, but if you want to feel more comfortable with the 22.5-24, you can certainly use those.
Baby power is just a quick fix but it certainly works, I use it on my Kala.
I’ve managed to adjust to the “stickiness”. To me it’s worth the adjustment because the tone of the Aquila stock strings is so URB-like. ...just encouraging you 
I just got a like-new Microbass yesterday via USPS (after it took a 10-day journey across the US). It was listed on eBay as a 23" but is actually a 25" scale. I took it to a friend's house for some jamming after only playing it for a few minutes. What a neat little bass! I'm surprised at how good it sounds, even unplugged. The action is low and playability excellent. It'll take me a little time to adjust to the scale- I overshot frets more than a few times. And the rubber strings are indeed a bit sticky, but I can deal with that. I wonder about the intonation, as it seemed to be a bit off further up the neck. I'd be interested to hear what other folks have experienced. Not long ago I got an Ibanez Mikro but the Microbass is so unique.. keeper.

I've noticed the same thing with my MBass and Ubass. It was fine for a while since I usually played below the 7th fret but now that I have to play more in the formerly dusty part of the neck due to a change of genres, I've had to set them aside and use instruments with better intonation capabilities. Also the string to string response is a bit uneven on both. It's unfortunate since the tone of those basses would work well for the new stuff.

They do sound great, but yeah - a bit challenging to play...
Would there be a difference in feel if I went with the 21 or the 22.5-24s? Also, do they sound significantly different than the rubber strings that are on it now? - and if so, could you describe the difference? TIA for any help...
Your input is appreciated. I think I can live with the intonation issues since it seemed to be not too far off (I'll have to check it with a tuner and see how far). I've never played a similar "mini" bass and need to get used to it, but I have a feeing I'll be using it quite a bit. One thing I noticed is the A string is be wrapped from bottom to top, which I assume should be reversed.
Once the strings are attached and settle in, I don't think there will be any difference. I think they sound a little fuller than the Thunderguts. They certainly are far smoother.
