Gonna customize a bass

it's been a while since I've been on here. Between work, moving, and trying to start a new band I've been f--'n swamped.

Anyway.

with my income tax I'm gonna purchase a Squier Matt Freeman P Bass in Vintage White. I'm gonna replace the black pick guard with a reddish tortoise shell one, black knobs and lastly I want to replace the neck with a left handed P bass neck so it'll give it a Hendrixy kind of look.

That's the question. Aside from the nut being replace are there any other issues I should worry about when I replace it?

Any help is very much appreciated.

I've found that some necks are not quite shaped with a perfect "C" or whatever profile. Like the neck on my Schecter is thicker on the bass side than the treble. Make sure that the neck you're getting is not shaped like this, or you could be very uncomfortable playing that neck.

Just picked up one of these as a back up P Bass. I you dump the neck you're losing the best part of the bass. Way better feel than the MIM standard P i was considering as an option...
and with the money left over I ordered a Mono double gig bag that will carry two. ( the Freeman, and the fender /moses parts P that is my main bass.

yeah, I played one and wasn't feeling it too well. It sounded a bit too muddy for my taste. I ended up getting a VM 77 J Bass, with a softshell case and strap and some other goodies for around 350 at GC. Think I'll wait on customizing a bass til this winter.
