Good ABY Boxes

For those of you that use ABY boxes to run signal to two separate amps can you please give me opinions on boxes to consider / avoid?

I use a Rolls, It does the trick!

I use the Boss AB-2 switch. It's worked well and doesn't change the sound too much (they all have a little impact). No Y function, though, but I'm just switching two basses through one amp.

The switching is quiet and easy, with different color LED lights for each side. Battery life has been excellent, too. In all, a sturdy box.

Avoid the Morley pedal...it's passive (battery only runs the lights) and has a resistor on each side to avoid the switching pop, but that really messes with the tone.

Haven't had good experiences with Morley either. I'm still trying to find a super versatile A/B input AND A/B Y output. (2 axes, 2 rigs)

My Framptone works well, but I don't know how it compares, as I've never tried any of the others.

Wow, this is the first I've heard of the Morley not being good and I just bought one Is it unreliable or does it just suck tone or ? So far it sounds ok just practicing at home, but I've yet to try it live or at actual band practice. Let me know...

Sucks tone...makes things sound thin and a bit quieter. It's because there is a resistor to passively stop a pop when switching...some of the sound is always going to ground.

I am using a pretty simple looking one. The only way I've noticed it let me down was by the battery dying because I left it plugged in. I Y- to both channels on my head.

I like mine anyway (using more as a combiner than a splitter)...

I have one of the Rolls pictured above, it worked fine for me.

A friend made me the one I'm using now. It's passive except for the light. The AC connection is for the switching light, the switching function is passive and works if it is not powered (if I remember correctly). I always have it plugged in, so I've never really checked it. It's an ABY box.

I use a Whirlwind to combine the channels in my 400+. Works fine, no pops when switching and doesn't seem to suck tone.I think it is important that you can tell at a glance which channel or combination you are using, and the Whirlwind does this.

I have a Morley and it does reduce the level and brightness when the "y" setup is used.
