Is the model definatly not compatible with both voltages for each country (UK and USA?)

If your amp is a US model only then it won't work directly with thne 240v UK service. The best way without hacking up the amp is to use an external step down transformer that will handle the power. From the ampeg user's manual:

it looks like the power requirements are 450 VA (volt-amps), so something like this would work:

You'd have go get a plug adaptor with this particular one, but maybe you could find something similar that doesn't.
