Good(and free) wav->mp3 converter

    *.wav files are just too big to send between people or post on websites.

    Foobar2000 is an excellent media player/converter. With a very simplistic interface, but packed with lots of great features. Works with almost any audio format. Great piece of freeware IMO.
  3. best mp3's I got from lame:

    scroll down and find razorlame, its a windows gui+lame

    Its a bit more hassle, but you get awesome mp3's.

    Lame is great... or how about looking into Ogg Vorbis instead (OGG files have a slight edge on MP3 for both small file sizes and quality and are also free with no strings attached).
