Good Bass Book(s) for beginners?

I'm a guitar player with lots of time on my hands (for some reason) so I've ordered a bass (Player Precision) to learn to play. I'd like any recommendations for a strictly beginner level instruction book or set of books. I've looked into the obvious Mel Bay books and find that they only have notes/staffs and no tabs. I think I'd do better having both.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I was going to recommend the old Chuck Rainey 'Complete Electric Bass Player' series but they are also standard notation only.

It's a good book, but probably geared towards an "advanced beginner" or intermediate player. There's a lot of words and not many exercises. A lot of conceptual stuff, but it does dig into some basic theory, reading, and fretting hand development.

Since you have the book, you know all that already..... give it a shot, you've got nothing to lose!
