Good basses for metal? £800 maximum

Have you considered something big and pointy? Like Satan's barbecue fork? Possibly in black? Perhaps a BC Rich or ESP? An Ibanez if your band is more into Nu Metal? Maybe a Dean MetalMan? I hear those are extra brutal. Make sure it's active though. you'll want to be able to cut your mids. Midrange is not brutal at all. Especially not at high gain with tons of distortion. You should probably get some EMGs while you're at it. Just in case your not brutal enough yet. Wouldn't want to find yourself not being brutal enough right in the middle of a breakdown.

I play metal too and have two Peavey Millinium BXP 5's, they are cheap, take a beating and most of all sound great! I like the passive J pickups so you will need some power to push threw the wall of noise the guitar players make. good luck!
