Good cab for Harkte L1000

I got the Hartke L1000. I gig pretty often and I don't like to hump around a 100lbs 8x10. I usually use a GK 4x10 (hate luggin that around) with a peavey 2x10. What other recommendations would you guys suggest that would really take advantage of the amp?

Good advice please. I've been around the scean for a while.

I have an impedance mismatch with my GK and my Peavey. so what else is there?

haven't yet thought of a budget. just want to see if I get any Gear Acquisition Syndrome first. My main point is that I don't think I get full advantage of that amp. For now thats hartke's main marketed amp... i think. Plus its 1000W. with what I have now it makes concrete floors rumble slightly but my speakers can't handle what the amp has to offer. I just know I can keep turning the knob higher if I had the right speakers. and as far as the hartke products like stacking two 4x10. doesn't really attract me. but I don't know.

I run a HyDrive 410 with the LH1K in bridged mode (750w approx) which sounds great on its own for rehearsal/small-medium venues. I also have the HyDrive 115 which lets the LH1K pump out 1200w (Bass Gear Mag no.3 test results) when used under the 410, which is the loudest rig I've ever stood in front of! Before I went the LH1K route I tried, Aguilar, GK, MarkBass, Ashdown and others I've since forgotten, but the Hartke gear was by far the best bang for the buck. I would recommend you give the HyDrive cabs a serious audition, even try to borrow one for a reheasal/gig.

1- join NJ bassists http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=549879

2-I saw SMV at Nokia theater last late summer. It was a good show. don't remember if he had the LH1000. :hyper:

Ok i'll join, i spend lots of time on the road.
When up north it's Bergen County, when south it's Atlantic County ,so Bergen County/Atlantic County.
I was there at the Nokia last summer and also there last friday
that's when Vic had the Hydrives.

$#!+ i didnt they had an event! was it like last years?

sparkymark: so far i'm really inclining for the hydrive. but again my GC AND SA are not bass oriented. only people i know that sell hydrives is AMS. but they are online. I would like to be able see how heavy they are and how they rank up. might have to break the piggy bank soon.

I know its hard to imagine what a 70lb (410) or 60lb (115) actually feels like, but these are about as compact as full size cabs come (24x24x15in) and have quick release castors and good side handles which makes moving them simple even for me (5'9" 154lbs). When you pop the castors off the cabs stack easily on their rubber feet (same ones as on the LH1000), if you leave them on getting the castors to slot into the location cups is the hardest thing about these cabs.

One thing to remember is that Larry Hartke built his reputation with his speakers, so I don't think there's any way he's going to risk it with inferior speakers now. I had Hartke XL's since the early nineties and only traded them in for the HyDrives which I now love too. The XL cones were in as good order after 15 years of gigging as when I got them, the only concern I have is that the paper to aluminium join on the HyDrives is as rugged. I wonder if Hartke have any data they are prepared to publish about this aspect as it is the radical bit of the HX design?

I think there's a bit of snobbery when it comes to Hartke, perhaps because it's built in the far east it's too cheap to be considered as serious competition for the others. But the LH1K plus the HX spkrs are right up there with the best without paying mega bucks IMO. I play pubs and clubs and never want for great tone or more power. I'm sure I could spend $5000 and get a marginal improvement, but I'm not a high earning pro, just an enthusiastic amateur.

Unless 'your sound' is particularly esoteric, I reckon you could find the best mail order deal on a HX410 and add the 115 only if you find you need the extra power. I will say however that adding the 115 does make a huge difference to the sound levels, much more than you would imagine from moving from 750 to 1200w, it feels like three or more times. Great for outdoor shows without PA support.
