Double Bass Good E/A for Eberle with Obligatos?

HI All,
I have a hybrid Eberle wtih Obligatos on it. I've been learning arco and they sound OK for that, but when I want to play pizz, I've noticed that the D&G seem loud and punchy, but the E and to some degree, the A, seem weak and thin sounding.

I've been reading through the archives about mixing strings, and I wondered if anyone has run into this on a bass like mine. And what was their results with mixing strings?

It seems that some folks like Dominants for the E&A. I'd like to find something that has more of a bottom sound with some more boom.
Any suggestions are welcome!

I thought about that, but I just had a complete setup done on it. Maybe I should talk to my luthier and see if he feels he could adjust the soundpost to improve the sound on the bottom end?

That's a common complaint about obligatos. Supposedly the Flat Chrome Steels have similiar tone to the obligatos and would probably be a little meatier than the obligatos A and E.

Not at all in my experience.
The FlatChromes are thin and clear sounding with good sustain.
I don't see anything in common between them and the Obligatos.

Ummmm, yes I want to get more meat in the lower strings. I have the Helicores that came on the bass. Maybe I can try those E & A strings?

Indeed, but I wouldn't expect much from them.

You can also consider TI Superflexibles and Spirocores.

I have an Eberle hybrid strung with Obligatos as well. My experience is the bass sounds better and fuller on the lower strings and kind of thin in higher positions on the G string. So perhaps it's a matter of tweaking this or that in the setup.
