Good groove bassist?

When i get a new cd i listen to it constantly for about two or so months. I try to learn everything i can from the music ,mostly the drums and the bass, and move on to the next band i think has a terrific rythym section. I know of a lot of big name bassists, but i am looking for someone that can lay down a nasty groove, not just a lot of chops, and not necessarily a lot of technical work. Any suggestions as to who would be good to learn from next. Who do you think is the best groove player from any genre of music? Im out of new music so any thoughts would be greatly apprecieated.

stefan lessard from dave matthews is pretty decent. rocco prestias groove playing with tower of power is amazing. old james brown with bootsy has some of the tightest rhythm section playing ever.

What's the difference between a good "groove" bassist and a just plain good basist? Can you be a good bassist and not be able to groove?

Very cool that you mentioned Aaron, great cat/friend and amazing player... Is he the bassist for Lettuce now? Man, in the mid-to-late 90's when I used to see them all the time, Erick Coomes was the bassist... hmm, learn somthing new each day.
