Good, Long lasting Strings?

What are the longest lasting strings that had pretty good sound that youve ever bought? ive tried boomers and the good sound was out in a day and they dont last too long and I want to see if anyone knows of strings that last a long time and sound good. thankyou.

Tell us what you mean by "good sound".

First things that came to mind: Coated strings, halfrounds, flatwounds.

By asking which strings are "good", you're opening a huge can of worms, dude...

You have to define "good". Better yet, scrap "good" & define the sound you want.

Given you like the Boomers initial sound, I suspect you wouldn't like Flats. But they do tend to last years & years.

I also love the TIs, but can easily see where some folks hate them due to the very low tension.

Keep your hands clean. Sounds funny, but that's the difference for me.

A set of strings usually last for about two weeks for me. But if I wash my hands before playing, they'll last 2 months.

And even better : boil them when you think they're good for the thrash. You might be surprised by the result.

i play in a progressive metal band, and we are looking to start giging locally. i prefer roundwound that are in the budget. im looking for a real heavy sound.

TI Jazz Flats have been on my much used P Bass for over 4 years. I don't plan on changing them anytime soon. Best feeling and sounding strings I've ever played.

If time is your most important factor, then obviously you can only go for flats. They literally never need to be replaced.

And if you're on a quest to find long-lasting rounds, you are doomed to failure. It ain't gonna happen.

i guess your right. its just i have a very low budget for strings, i love bass but cant afford the monthly string change so im just trying to find the best roundwounds out there thatll last. playings an everyday thing for me so i realy need it

You're not going to find cheap strings that last a long time and remain bright and cutting.

Buy a set of Elixir's or Ernie Ball Coated Strings. They cost more but last 4x's longer or more.

wash your hands as stated above. If you play everyday you'll kill roundwounds quick. Doesnt matter if they're nickle or ss, dr, dean markely, whomever. I can kill nickles before the first set is over if my hands sweat enough. 35 bucks out the door.

I clean my strings with rubbing alcohol. They always sound brand new.

Three years on my TI Flats and counting. Just did recording using my 55-94 with these strings and it blew away the other bass being used, a an SR4 with rounds.
