Good pedal for volume boost

X2. I tried the LPB-1. Even when adjusting it for zero volume gain, when activated it had an overdriven sound. I wanted clean boost. EQ probably a good way to go. I opted for a volume pedal and really like it. I got the Visual Volume.

I also never got any distortion from mine.
I would guess your unit was faulty or your input gain was set rather high, causing the boost to push your amp to distortion.

I vote for the Wren and Cuff Phat Phuk B.

It's brilliant for thickening up your sound as it adds something in the low mids and the highs (subtle, but it's there) and (with all my basses, YMMV) adds just a hair of grit. I use it for the purpose of beefing up my tone in my blues band with great results.

I am using an active Musicman. I'm not changing my bass :bassist:

Nono, I meant the gain setting of your amp (sorry, English is not my first language). A hot signal from a bass shouldn't cause distortion, unless it is way out there. My main bass is active too, and I did use pedals before the lpb-01 that considerably boosted the signal even more.

I didn't mean to tell you you did something wrong (as of course your lpb-01 could have been faulty too), I just wanted to inform the OP that the lpb-01 shouldn't have distortion if it is functioning properly, just in my experience.
