Good pedal for volume boost

I play in a four piece band with one guitar player and I need something to boost my volume and / or thicken up my sound during guitar solos when there isn't anything else going on accompaniment-wise.

I was looking at the EHX LPB-1. Any love out there for that?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

My Boss Hyper fuzz has a happening boost mode. Rare but they are out there. I would get a Chandler Lil Devil boost-high end stuff $320 though. I hear the BBE Boosta Grande is pretty good.
An MXR micro amp is a fail safe booster as well.

By far the cheapest way to do it, and it'll work perfectly.

I owned an lpb-1 for some time, also using it for solo's and to correct the lack of volume knob in the dry mode of my BBM. It did the job as good as I could wish for!

Since I don't do solo's so much, if at all, and I modded the BBM, I sold it to my guitarist. He also uses it for boosting for solo's, and is also very happy with it.

Are there better units out there? Sure. At less than double the price? Nope. Are you gonna hear the difference in a mix? Doubt it. Are you gonna hear the difference in your bedroom? Still doubt it.

Agreed. I like gourmet gear as much as the next guy, but some of the best boosters I've heard were fairly cheap--and the difference between good and "less good" is slim, and only audible in a very refined listening context (high-end recording setup for example)-and sometimes not even then.

One thing that can make the decision a little trickier/more interesting is if you want a specific tonal quality from a booster. E.g. if you want a bit of dirt, or compression, or noticeable fattening, etc. That's when I can justify spending higher amounts, myself.

X2. I tried the LPB-1. Even when adjusting it for zero volume gain, when activated it had an overdriven sound. I wanted clean boost. EQ probably a good way to go. I opted for a volume pedal and really like it. I got the Visual Volume.

I bought a markbass super booster a few months ago and have nothing but positive results with it. Its a nice clean boost that has the VLE and VPF filters on it for a lil vintage tone(if you desire).

I use mine as a overall signal booster, like before all my effects(after the compressor of course) but im sure it'll do fine at the end of a chain.

I got one of those for exactly the reasons you mentioned. It works great, and at $32 new it was totally worth it!

Odd, Ive never gotten the slightest bit of overdirve from the LPB-1. Its a fairly clean boost, if anything a little extra bass as a poster above stated.

I liked the price but wanted absolutely CLEAN boost, thus the volume pedal. Gain on an EQ would probably do the same but I like the ease of adjusting volume on the fly.

I didn't even want the "little extra bass". I've got other pedals for that.
