Good pickup for motown sound

Anyone ever try the StewMac Golden Age Pickups? Seem to be one of the cheapest priced P's out there, haven't heard anything bad about them either.

I'm a big fan of Seymour Duncans, I threw some SPB-1 Vintage in a P-bass and they had a great old motown/soul sound. They even use cloth wires on the pickups, very cool.

Flatwounds, yes. I have been having good luck with TI's. As for the p'up, I've enjoyed my S. Duncan Antiquity. If you want to study Jamerson's tone, check out the "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" deluxe edition (2 CDs.) That second disc has some sections on tracks where they have dropped out everyone but him. "Bernadette" is particularly illuminating. Just awesome

From what i find the SPB-1 works amazing. But the 3 biggest factors are technique, flatwounds, and foam imo...
