IMHO a set of flats will get you closer to a Motown/Stax sound than a pickup change will.
I'm looking to upgrade my Mexican p for a good Motown/stax sound. I'm currently debating between a fender 62 pup, norstrand or lindy fralin, but I'm open to any suggestions.
Find a set of 10 year old flats that someone is replacing that fit your bass. That'll do more to achieve the Motown sound than any PU swap. JOOFO.

Gosh, and I always thought the best pickup for Motown was Ford...
