Honestly, how could I possibly know every individuals history with ProTools?
Bottom line is that ProTools is the standard, probably having to do with it being the first commercially successful DAW. Plus, it continues to be the industry leader in innovation and plug-in compatability.
Log some time in professional studios & talk to the engineers. You'll understand why ProTools is so ubiquitous quickly enough.
Yeah, there are plenty of reasons why pro tools may not be the ideal choice for a given user but suggesting that the top engineers and producers of the world use protools because 'its what they were taught to use' is a little insulting to them!
Especially now as the up and coming younger engineers grew up with all the different software around and many of them still choose to use tools.
I spent the longest time using Cubase, to be honest I still probably know it better than Logic and Tools even after not having used it for years! But I choose to use Logic/Tools for their merits as a programs, not because I don't know any better.
Work with some REAL top engineers and you'll see just how exacting and in depth they are about every aspect of the sound and the process, and just how d**n good they are! If they are using Protools you can guarantee its for a good reason, and we should humbly go 'ok' and try and work out why that is, to learn why they prefer it! Even if we have our own differing preferences.
Ditto logic of course, I'm seeing more and more guys come to the studio and use logic these days.
Sorry, I get a bee in my bonnet about sweeping statements against gear! You see people saying things like 'I hate 57's' and I always think 'an incredibly talented engineer used 57's to record a record that you think sounds incredible, be a bit humble!'
