Double Bass Good Strings for Ibanez UB804

howdy
I'm looking for strings to replace the stock d'addario chromes on my Ibanez UB804. they are a little too bright and stiff. I play lots of slides and bends. I'm thinking maybe Labella tapes or low tension flats. I'd appreciate advice especially if you've been in this situation.

Better ask that in the EUB forum or in a BG string forum.
The Ibanez needs BG strings, so there is not too much information to expect in a DB string forum.
Typically DB players play DB scale EUBs (if at all) with DB strings which cannot be used on BG bridges and tuners. The construction of the strings is too different.

Just purchased one of these basses, waiting for it to arrive. I already have a 1989 German acoustic upright, but I'm looking at emulating an Ampeg Baby Bass for the latin band I play in. I'll be putting a block of foam under the strings and maybe installing a set of tapewounds. I know full well it's 34" scale but I tried one out and it's no problem to get around on.

It only took 5 years for Ibanez to get the idea but better late than not at all. Ships with a Lo B but I will likely go with a Hi C instead. Wonder how long until dealers have them in stock.

I had one of those, and I put Thomastik Jazz Flats (JF344) on it. That was the ticket for me.

I have D’Addario tapewounds on mine.

A unique instrument. It doesn’t sound like an upright, but it doesn’t really sound like a fretless BG either. It’s kind of its own thing.
