Double Bass Good variable HPF unit? Possibly FDeck?

My FDeck arrived in the mail earlier in the week. It works and sounds great! The variable hpf is definitely gonna be very handy!

I was curious to see just how "magic", "transparent", whatever the fDeck is compared to my inexpensive Fishman BII beltpack preamp. The Fishman has no hpf, but it does have a good 2 band eq. Still, set flat, I wanted to compare it directly to the Fdeck!

First off, be nice- I've only been playing the doghouse for 4 months!

Signal is my Shen plywood with a K&K Bassmax - split into two signals by a Radial transformer isolated ABY - one signal into the Fdeck & the other into the Fishman - straight into a Digidesign MBox2Pro. NO compression, eq or any processing whatsoever! These are the raw .wav files from the session folder.
It was tricky getting the levels close since the FDeck was cutting all the sub-harmonics below 35hz! I did my best, but naturally the FDeck was louder before clipping. I didn't want to do any post processing to compensate/skew results, so bear that in mind! The volume was full-up on the Fdeck.
The Fishman was set flat with the volume at about 50% (so it wouldn't clip the convertor).

The Fdeck performs as promised! Very neutral sounding while cutting out the subsonics. Honestly, the Fishman sounds really good too in my opinion. Beyond the high pass filtering, I'm not sure it's really such a 'night & day' difference. YOU be the judge!

The recording w/Fdeck sound a bit more open, full and slightly more natural than the Fishman. At least to my ears.

I think your playing sounds fine! No, no huge differences but the lower bass is a bit stronger via the Fishman while other aspects of the sound are superior via the Fdeck. That is, assuming all other things are equal.
