Goodbye Pod Go… Hello HX Stomp XL

I’ve sold my Pod Go.

It was great for the last four years, bought for guitar tones with it frankly nailed. But the past year I have been back deep into bass and have been frustrated the whole time. My frustration came to a head while on holiday, with my brain increasing in tension about how to incorporate external pedals into the effects loop while running compression and signal boost/cut to return the signal to to the effects return slot and blend in, hoping this could emulate or perfect the parallel signal paths available in the Darkglass Infinity or HX stomp. It was madness. It had to stop. I jumped on eBay, listed my Pod Go, bought a HX Stomp XL, and now, I await the delivery man.

I experienced the same thing with a different older multi effect pedal. The Stomp is a beast! Watch some videos on programming the thing while you wait for the mailman. The stomp also works for bass and guitar so you should be covered.

I have been eyeing the HX Stomp heavily as of late. I currently use a Headrush MX5 (which is great!) but the concensus seems to be that the Stomp is better overall for bass. And I do like that it has a smaller footprint!

I went from the Pod Go to the stomp about a year ago and have never looked back. I’m super happy with the Stomp!

I love my stomp for guitar. I have a buddy with a PodGo and my tone smokes his… lol.

I’ve never really found my footing with the stomp on bass… mostly because I am not a big bass effects guy. But I still appreciate a good signal chain and tone processing. I’m sure I’ll figure it out. I may try one of Ian Allison’s presets. They may be overkill, but I think they will point me in the right direction.

If you play live and need to run direct to a snake or board, may I recommend checking out Pinstripe Pedals DISO. It is a line isolator designed for the stomp products. It works like a direct box, only the signal is much cleaner and stronger.

The HX Stomp is a great unit. I used one for a few years and it served its purpose very well both on stage and in the studio. It can be a bit overwhelming if you're new to the modeling game but the HX Edit app makes it easier to learn than on the unit itself.

If you don’t need stereo out, the walrus audio canvas mono DI is a line isolator. If you do need stereo out, unfortunately they’re about the same price.

I have used the Stomp for four years. I think it's one of the best gear investments I have done in bass. It doesn't matter if you use effects, you can get mostly any sound from it.

This is a clean & efficient board, and I'm loving the red Stomp. Well doine!
