Have you checked out YouTube reviews? Also the GoPro subreddit has some good info.

I have checked out YouTube and there isn't anything about filming gigs however it's supposed to be good in low light and I hope better the Zoom q2n which has been acting up. Seems as the higher the sd card the more time you get. Have seen complaints about draining of the battery and getting hot. How is yours ?
I have had some positives and some negatives from filming gigs. I am going to focus on the negative because the positives are clearly outlined in most youtube vids. I will say on the plus side that the hypersmooth stabilization is A+. I do not have a steady hand but you would never know with this camera!
I have used the Gopro to record gigs that I have played in small clubs to big multi stage outdoor events. I have also done some recording of shows that I have gone to see. I am no videographer, these are just my experiences.
I have not found the gopro H7B to be great in low light. Its okay i guess, but I heavily recommend having lights at a club gig. The more the better.
The heat, battery life, and memory card are the most important and troublesome cons of this camera.
ONLY BUY A MEMORY CARD OFF THE GOPRO HERO 7 BLACK LIST.
-IMO dont even try buying online, too many fakes. Just bite the bullet and buy from a well known retailer who will stand behind their sale in case of problems.
I found a hack for the battery which works really well, (and helps with heat accrual) I don't use one! I have a backup cell phone battery in case of power outages down here. I charge that bad boy up and keep it plugged in to the camera for the whole 3 hour gig (the side door comes off. It will no longer be waterproof this way fyi). Bring some velcro strips with you and the battery will sit anywhere you can think of to put the camera.
Really though, Gopro charges a whole bunch of money for those batteries and for the external charger. My backup battery was like $25. If you're in a position to run an extension cord to the camera, you will not even need that.
I have had one major failure at an outdoor fest gig where I was dead set on getting an angle from the front. I set up the camera (with battery, I hadn't learned my hack yet) on the guardrail in front of the stage and hit record. It was in the summer New Orleans sun and super hot. When I got back to the camera after our 45m set, it was frozen. After reset, all data was lost after 1:35.
I went on an internet binge and got some good advice on Reddit.
1) try to minimize the heat the gopro is under naturally. Put a fan on it, or maybe an umbrella to keep the sun off it. Again, don't use the battery although IME it still gets pretty hot.
2) The only way to know what is going to happen before it happens is to put the camera through the situation before game time. I was at the fest for at least an hour prior to hit. If i had set the camera up and recorded the shot I wanted before we played, I would have known it was going to fail.
That's pretty much my experience. I payed $300 for an open box model in March and do not regret the decision. It is not perfect but I think it works pretty well for me. Hope that helps!
Hey..I checked out the videos and it seems that it might do a little better job with light than a zoom q2n in club settings. I agree that with more light on stage the better. I'll consider your advise as to the memory card and heat (maybe that's why it's waterproof so you can throw water on it to cool it off...joking!). It does seem to capture bass as well. I might hook up another mic to it. I just ordered one for $229 new with a return policy. If it's a pain then I'll go back to a new Zoom q2n with 4K. Much appreciate your advise and thank you!
