Got a used speaker, think something is wrong.

Picked up a used Eminence 3015lf in the classifieds and it came in the mail today.
Opened the box to see something other than I expected.
The back end of this 3015lf doesn't match that of my other 3015lf which was also used, so which one is right?

Otherwise they look very similar down to the lettering on the backs of the cones.

Not supposed to be but anything other than the genuine article is not kosher.
My expectations were exact I should hope the sellers intentions were just as exact.
But periodically things get lost in translation so I'll reserve judgment until I get a more accurate picture of what is going on.

A couple years ago I emailed them about some speakers from PA cabs built in the 1970's, that I had bought second-hand in the early 80's. They answered me promptly and gave me all the info they had on them (they were OEM).

That's really cool of them. Everything I've heard about them service wise is great so we'll see.
I've sent them the email you suggested.
I hope I'm as lucky as you.

I wasn't even thinking this could be an OEM short-run.
The pictures I got of the cab it came out of weren't any avatar I'm familiar with.

Update: received an email early this morning.
They want more information.
Although they did say: “It looks like someone took our grey identification label, removed it, and stuck it on the side of the shell pot. We don’t put it there."

The Eminence rep:
We did change vendors on the shell pot at one point, which slightly changed the shape, but we did not change the depth. It has to be that depth to ensure the long voice coil doesn’t bottom out. The fact that the DC resistance on your speaker matches the DC resistance of the Kappalite 3015LF combined with the facts that the cone is the correct part number and that it has a Kappalite 3015LF manufacturing label on it (albeit in a different spot than we put it) proves to me that you have a Kappalite 3015LF.

It could be a stock spec 3015LF out of an 8ohm TB153 cab, which means it's the real deal. The 4ohm versions are OEM.

Look on the inside of the frame arms, facing the cone, and see if there is another label on any of them. My Avatar deltalites have their labels there, and a blank magnet like that.

Might need a magnifying glass or little mirror or something to help read the label on the inside of the frame arm if there is one there.
