Over on TDPRI it is still a big deal, to some members, that guitarists actually want distortion in their signal. At all.

Whenever I read about the much coveted 'twang', I always wonder why my Telecaster doesn't do that. Maybe I'm using it wrong.

Surely not this one...

I thought the effects forum on here was for players that hate their bass's tone, hate their amp's tone, and think a booteek pedal can solve both issues at once.

I got flamed at for suggesting that the classic dub reggae bass tone was not the product of pedals, and that pedals were not a crucial element in getting that tone. Oops.


If you want your Telecaster to 'twang' you need Don Mare pickups. I hear his relic'd Jimmy Page set, complete with NOS rosin dust residue from a violin bow, will do the job adequately...

The problem with being banned is you can't quit. You have to rage elsewhere which, as we're seeing, doesn't get taken very seriously. Mind you, ragequits don't get taken very seriously either. So maybe it's all okay.

The 7 string forum used to be a bunch of angry teens. Now they're older and mods.

It's easy to try to single out forums, but most adults are simply teens that got older. Lots of folks are fairly depressed and looking to lash out.

Taken from another thread but worthwhile, nonetheless:

I'm on a couple of other forums and there's this one guy is continually banned. He comes back every few weeks under a different username and posts his nonsense and then is banned again when it's revealed it's him. I'm usually the first to spot him. Passive-aggressive, opinion as fact, insulting, etc. He just doesn't understand why so many people take issue with him online. Then I do some digging and find out he's been banned on about six other forums and just holds out on two now. He still manages to get into arguments with everybody.

I'm not saying the OP is necessarily like that but it is always funny when a poster from a forum complains about another forum and is then banned from both for doing so.
