Hey everyone,

Well today i made my decision on what im gonna do about my 09 ric that i got in march this year. The binding was cracking at almost every fret when i got it but i kept it(i know stupid but i just loved to play it and didnt want to send it back) and got some of it lightly sanded down so it looked better but still, it seems its getting worse. But today i noticed that the fretboard laquer is cracking... there are 12 3-4 inch long thin cracks up and down the board. Im sure it must be from humidity, but i live in Erie, Pa and we have nothing extreme humidity wise. Im just so annoyed with this whole thing, and Im gonna send it back to ric seeing my musicians friend return possibility is long gone... I just hope it wont be voided warranty because of the light sanding i did on the binding and taken off pickup cover... Can anybody give me some advice on what to do? thanks

I live in Harrisburg and our humidity is awful here.

At this point there will be no returns so you have to ship it to Ric wait for awhile and hope the repairs are covered under warranty.

I followed your thread when you bought it and honestly I would have returned it at that point while a refund was still possible.

Hope it all works out for you!

Hey thanks man,

I just gave them a call and the dude said the network was down so they cant do much for at least an hour. Man, i just wonder how long il have to go without a ric:rollno:

I ordered my Ric 4003 from MF too and had to send it back TWICE before getting a perfect one. The first one they sent me had a crack in the triangle inlay at the third fret. I returned it for a replacement but the second one they sent me had a defective pickup, so I returned that one too. The third one they sent me was perfect--and has been one of my favorite basses ever since.

So I guess my advice to you is don't be shy about returning it. That's why MF has their return policy, otherwise people would never buy online because you don't know what you're getting until it ships to you.
