Anyone know? It’s a 31” scale length, but has a bridge where the strings go to a tailpiece. Anyone know what length string to use? Short or medium?

Can you measure, from ball end to nut? And from nut to first tuning post, since we're at it.

Scale length 79cm- just over 31”. Ball end to just after nut is 34.25”. Labella medium scale flats were the right fit.

According to the La Bella Bass String Guide, the "medium scale" is 34.25" from ball end to taper/silk. Yet, looking at the pic, they appear to be quite a bit longer than that.
EDIT: Or, are they the "thru-body" version? Do they have 1" of silked portion at the ball end?
I’d say the wraps start about 1/2 farther back than stated. Not the through body set. Huh?
If the measurement from the ball end to the nut on the bass is 34.25" and the ball to silk on the string is supposed to be 34.25", then the silk should start right at the nut, but the actual start of the silk is about an inch away from the nut. I was just wondering why that is so. That's all.
The Nordstrand Acinonyx is. The Goya Panther is said to be 30.5" in a couple webpages, 31" in others.
It's not relevant to the question in the OP, now you've both measured and successfully installed a set, but:
because any string is a physical object with a certain amount of stiffness, and in the case of an electric bass it has a steel-core, and in this specific case it is a flatwound to boot, even the G saddle has to have some amount of compensation, albeit the least in the set.
So, in order to ascertain the actual scale length, the standard method is measuring from the fretboard edge of the nut to the crown of the 12th fret, then multiplying the result by two.
If you have a minute, it would be useful to settle this for posterity.
Also stringing the G on the opposite side of the string retainer allows for a “better” string path that does not touch the D post.
