I sometimes feel as though I am the only human in my area working, driving, walking, and generally MOVING with any SPEED whatsoever.
Just trying to get something to eat around here takes forever.
Getting to work I drive on roads with 45 mph speed limits. And these old ladies and geezers in Buicks who have NOWHERE TO BE are cruising around at about 30 mph.
I go to the grocery store and dozens of IDIOTS are just taking up the whole isle having conversations and reading labels directly across from their carts.... totally unaware of their surroundings. And they look at me like I'm some kind of jerk when I say "Excuse me".
And don't even get me started on people at festivals and malls who creep along in a line of half a dozen people or more.... blocking up the whole side so nobody can get through.
I work circles around my co-workers.... not because I am particularly brilliant and/or talented.... but because I MOVE CONSTANTLY. And I do it quickly.
Now, I'm not literally running. I'm not out of breath. I'm not exhausted at the end of the day. But I'm quick and steady.
If you insist on creeping along in your life, do the rest of us a favor and at least stay to the side so you are OUT OF THE WAY.
(......and I haven't even had my coffee yet.)
Thank you for allowing me to vent. I don't need advice. I'm not doing it wrong.
I get this. I am similar in some ways. My life is crazy busy. I am to be efficient with my time, and I move fast. Spatial awareness is important to me when in public (and obviously on the road). Sometimes I get impatient with people who do not how to make a succinct point, or are in my way when I'm trying to get by.
All that said, it's my approach to life. Where I may differ is that I also aim to keep in mind that a majority of people do not choose this approach. When I am out and about and I get frustrated with the pace of things, I remind myself that I need to respect and make space for other people living their lives the way they choose. If they slow me down, that's my problem. The result is simply practicing patience.
This does not include situations where there are defined rules not being followed, such as blocking the passing lane. Move please!

If you're not passing you should not be in the passing lane. I didn't make that up. It's an actual law.

I remember my first job in Manhattan a million years ago... at lunch time, my boss (uncle) sent me to McDonalds to get us food in Union Square. The line was out the door. I laughed and thought it was going to take hours. I got my order in and had a bag in my hand in less than 10 minutes. I was dumbfounded. My thoughts regarding the speed "limit" are these. If you are mentally or emotionally incapable of driving the speed limit, you are too dumb to drive. That includes my own sweet grandmother. Any idiot who issued her a driver's license today should be punched in the neck. The Buick brigade should only be allowed to drive between commuter hours. Get your senior coffeee before 6:30 or after 9:00 a.m. If you can only drive 25 in a 45 you shouldn't drive at all.
Why go to the absolute extreme to try to support your law breaking? I said nothing about 25 in a 45 zone. But if I'm doing 45 in a 45 and passing someone, well, you'll just have to calm yourself down and wait til I'm done passing. Afterwards, feel free to break the law all you want, it is only a burden on me when the inevitable accident is caused.
About 15 years ago, four of my good friends were on their way home from somewhere and they were hit head on by a driver who was high. Two recovered, one died instantly, and one is quadriplegic for the remainder of his life.
I urge you, please stay off the road when you're under the influence of anything other than caffeine....You're not as unaffected as you probably think you are.

Selta maybe assuming that "don't go slow" means TwoFingers is the guy weaving in and out of traffic at 85 mph. I doubt that. He's likely the guy who wants to put his cruise control on in the passing lane, but can't because drivers go 60 mph in that lane when traffic is obviously flowing faster then that..
TwoFingers maybe assuming Selta is the 60mph passing lane guy. Probably not as well. He probably is angry about people weaving in and out of traffic dangerously at 85 mph because it's selfish and it completely disregards the safety of everyone on the road. I am too, but I still don't like when people impede traffic flow by being oblivious. That's very unsafe too.
To me, if the speed limit on a rural road is 45 and you're doing 45, we're cool. If you can never seem to get up to 45 or if you vary in speeds a lot, I know damn well you're not paying attention and I hate you.
I vowed ages ago to never give Walmart a dime, but admittedly, their service is REALLY convenient for my mother with Parkinson's. She can still drive, but can't really stand for long or walk for a while without needing to sit. Also, if she orders something and they don't have it, they give you a suggested replacement free while not charging you for the original item.
If you are driving in the passing lane, and going SLOWER THAN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, you are creating a hazard, and likely causing accidents. Look it up. In Georgia, it's a misdemeanor.

Did you miss the "and passing someone" bit? That would make it such that I'm at least keeping pace with traffic, if not exceeding it.

Also do 43 in a 45, and such. Whatever the post I am at or two less.

I am right there with you on the school zone bit. Ours are 20 mph around here as well (most are photo enforced too), and I'm generally closer to 15 than 20. I actually saw a kid get hit once - IMO totally the kid's fault, but, having just that little bit more reaction time + reduced stopping distance likely would've changed the outcome.
