Will somebody answer my question? What is that sticking out of the center of the G machine on the left side of the Stainer???
On both sides of the Stainer, theres something sticking out of the center of the G and on the other side the E ....looks like a huge wing-nut. Plesae tell me you see it!!!!!Don Zebrauskas said:

Jeeze you say? Refer the the correct Bass 'old man' and then 'maybe' someone can answer your question! You can't see the G-tuner on THE Stainer. That was the confusion!

If I got it right, you said you started driving in the '70's; unless you waited until they did away with column shift to get a license, that makes us near (chronological) contemporaries!

I started driving late at about 20-21 years old. Unless you travelled for work, people in NY used public transportation. I will be 55 in September so you can do the math to see how close or not we are in age. I didn't buy my first car until about 1975-1977 or so.
I think my Shens are all handmade but you would have to check with John about that.
Some Chinese resturants serve Sea Bass. I'm sorry the joke went over so many heads. I will aim lower next time!

Yeah....Thanks jmpi. I'm just glad i'm not going blind. Actually, I think I remember an ad in an old ISB that had a gizmo for knocking the E down to low C What confuses me is that the bass also has a Horst machine on it.
