I relly need a new bass and i was looking on this esp/grass roots

on some places it says it made of mahogny some places says it made of agathis, anybody know?

does anyone own or has anyone played this bass? The bridge look pretty weird to me.... any opinions would help a lot. Thanks!

I just bought a ESP F-255FM. I really love this bass. My only minor complaint is I dont like painted necks, slows you down. Im getting the neck sprayed in trans black satin soon. Its out right now getting set up for me. The Grass Roots you are looking at is satin, so no worries here.

I am quite happy with the ESP pickups and the 3 band preamp is very nice fat and punchy. I am putting it a set of Bartolini dual coils for some warmth. But, it is perfectly fine stock.

It looks like the body is Agathis with a Mahogany top. Agathis is a cheaper wood from Asia Pacific (Malaysia, Borneo etc). It is sometime called "commercial mahogany" although it is a pine type tree. Its a little softer and lighter, but still provides great tone. Its a lot cheaper since it is more abundant and readily available since it is a platation tree. Therefore you see it turn up in alot of budget priced guitars.

Grass Roots is ESP stuff sold mainly in the Japanese market. The bridge on the Grass roots Forest looks like the S-Tek on my Schecter Stilleto Custom 5. This type of bridge is common on some Ibanez basses etc. The Forest you are looking also has the string through the body option.

I think you will be quite happy with this bass.
