Has played for many years here with Fito Paez, he released BAJOPIEL, his solo album, which is absolutely amazing (you can download it from many sites). If you ask me his main influence is Mr Miller. He plays a 4 string MIA jazz bass vintage and plays mainly fusion. You will enjoy a lot his playing...


Fernando Afonso

Mainly influenced by african and brazilian music, he combines rock and jazz fusion with folklore roots from argentina and many other cultures.
He played in Clavos Sin Cabeza, a really interesting band with two bassists, a keyboard player and a drummer (you can hear some songs in his space) and now plays at a Duo with a piano player.


Diego Arnedo

Pretty well known bassist from the rock power trio "Divididos" fronted by Ricardo Mollo and ex SUMO. Recognizable for his fast rock bass lines and lead precision trebbly sound, Diego Arnedo is the reason why many argentinian kids pick up a bass.

Ex bassist from funk metal band A.N.I.M.A.L, if you listed the first record of the band names animal you will see pretty nice funky bass lines with a sound that reminds to Dirk Lance by moments. He is a long time Spektor bass user and right now sings and plays bass at power trio named "Carajo".

Worldwide acclaimed performer and composer, has played with Pat Metheny many years. In Argentina he played and sang at rock band Seru Giran with Charly Garcia.
Fretless lover has a sound that reminds a lot to Jaco. Right now he plays acoustic guitar and sings portuguese music.

Don´t forget Javier Malossetti, great bass player (jazz, funk, rock). He used to play with Luis Alberto Spinetta, a really good guitar player, singer & poet.

Is there anybody here who knows if there's a new breed of players who are influenced by tango music?

I remember watching a live show on tv where Pedro Aznar was playing bass and singing with a cast on his right hand (unable to use it) and still didn't miss a note... he's such a great player...

Fabio from the cadillacs is a great bass player, has a very disctinctive style..

Regarding tango music check "bajofondo tango club", it is a project from Gustavo Santaolalla, mixing tango with some electronic programming and other musical styles.

Vivi rama played here at a rock girl-band named Carmelas, she is a great bass player, if you want to hear a woman who really rocks pls check out the argentinian ´power trio ERUCA SATIVA, whos bass player Brenda Martin really rocks. She plays with a 5 string beautifull Yamaha bass.

Oh my god! I feel so inadequate!
But at the same time, I guess it is so different from why I wanted to be a bassplayer in the first place.He is really just playing low guitar and that's why he still needs a bassplayer behind him.

Deep "in the pocket" groove sense, melodic lines and nice tone. Not the typical bass hero or flashy technique star.

We must agree that ALEJANDRO MEDINA is a great player also.He performed in Manal, Pappos's Blues and many many amazing bands. Great Blues bassist, and still playing arround.

El Negro MEDINA is the best blues bass player in Argentina, plus it´s a legend. I grew up listening his tunes. From the 70´s to here, nobody are close to him.
In rock style, Arnedo from Sumo and Divididos.
