Great Customer Service?

Beaver Felton at Bass Central. Great guy and always goes above and beyond what he needs to to help you out.

PJ Rubal at Spector. Great all around guy. Will also help you out, no matter what you need. Will spend lots of time talking to you about any problems you may have and is always very friendly.

I've only had a couple of dealings with anyone regarding customer service issues but both times, everything was great:

Tom Clement: builder extraordinaire of Clement Basses. I found him by accident and I'm glad I did. A true gentleman and excellent craftsman. Exchanged I-dont-know-HOW-many emails and pics during the order/build process and never lost his cool dealing with me trying to figure out a suitable top for the body. Easily the most trying part of the whole process for me. :)

Seymour Duncan: I wish I could remember the guy's name. I ordered Duncan pickups in my Clement and the neck position Quarter Pounder P was very noisy. I contacted Duncan and they took ownership of the issue right away. They didnt try to pass the buck and blame the problem on the Bart pre or shielding or anything else. They said, yeah, its probably us. They shipped me a new pickup first and had me send the bad one back to them.
Works great now BTW! No noise issues anymore. :bassist:

I suppose I should also compliment Carvin. I ordered an LB-75 from them 17 years ago and I still own it with no issues to report! IIRC, the ordering process was very easy and I know I had no issues after the sale. :)

Rob Green at Status Graphite has got to be a standard-bearer in great customer service. Outstanding communication with the designer and owner who will have a hand in most of the work done on your instrument. Apprently he's also really open to shop visits from customers, which is awesome. Whenever I get over to visit the UK I definitely want to try to plan a stop.

I add to the rep. of Beaver Felton. A really great guy that goes out of his way to help.
Don Oatman from LDS: I ordered 2 cabs received one. He apologized and built and delivered the other one in one week. Total 5 weeks for both. Awesome human being and the cabs are excellent in every regard. Excellent communication!!

When I owned my Fodera, the pre-amp started making horrible static and distorted for no apparent reason. I took it to my tech and he couldn't figure it out. I emailed Mike Pope on his site. He got back with me within a day. He got the information of the tech I had and called him up directly to have him try a few things to fix it. My tech couldn't fix it so Mike sent me a free pre-amp at no charge. During this Mike gave me his home number so we could coordinate better than email. Mike if you are reading this I sent you some Cincinnati Skyline Chili as a thank you. Very cool experience.

Sadowsky and EA are right up there as well. Very cool people to deal with.

I've moved this thread to miscellaneous, since it is not about basses, but music-related customer service. At the beginning, maybe it was about bass companies, but now the thread includes amplification, parts, etc.

Carry on. :)

I'll add my two cents:

1. Roscoe - The man himself called me back, this was before Gard had come on board!

2. Matt Pulcinella - could have not been more helpful when I was ordering my first custom bass

3. Garz - Very quick to answer any and all questions

4. Brian @ Best Bass Gear. Hands down the nicest most helpful guy I have ever dealt with

5. Pat Wilkins - super nice and very helpful

6. Brian @ The LowEnd - don't really need to say more.

7. Aguilar - Can't remember who I spoke with but thet were great.

8. Jeff Genzler - Super quick repsonse to all questions.

9. Sadowsky - The guru

10. Spike at Warmoth!!

My good experiences...

D'Addario strings- when they changed the standard lenght around 1993 or so, I bought a set of strings for my (pre EB) StingRay and they didn't fit. John D'Addario called me on the phone after they got my letter (before e-mail) and arranged to send me a set of the extra long ones. I also got another T-shirt, etc.

Dan Lakin et. al. - So many times. I got my Deluxe 4-94 used, and the previous owner had disconnected the PU coil selector. They sent me a real schematic, a pictorial wiring diagram, and one of the guys at the shop called me to make sure I got it connected correctly. Later I took the bass to them for some minor fret work, and to have the wiring tidied up after I swapped out the Duncans for the Barts (it all worked fine and the wiring was OK, but the stock wiring was SO clean- my eyes were too bad to do a great solder job). Dan met me, introduced me to Carl and then said I could play anything on the wall through any of the stuff they had. Carl spent a few hours on my bass- not only cleaning up the guts, but taking ALL the hardware off, buffing the metal and the wood finsih, dressing the frets, putting on a new nut, and restringing it. Carl brought it to me, watched me play if for a bit, then took it back to tweak the set up. Now, I'd done my own set-ups for 25 years at that time, but Carl NAILED exactly how I set it up myself. Dan apologized that they were out of shirts and hats, and wouldn't take any money- said it was warranty work.

The three that stand out for me are:

Jorg Schroeder - Probably the best customer service I have received inside the bass world, and out.

Schecter Guitars - Always answered and resolved issues/questions promptly, and always exceeded my expectations.

Jim Bergantino - Limited experience, but always top notch.

This is a huge way that companies can gain loyal users. You may not have to deal with them often, but when you do, it should be pleasant. Dealing with poor customer service is such a turn off - especially when there are so many great choices to go to in the bass world.

Kurt at rondomusic. If there's something wrong with your SX basses, he will have FedEx pick it up at his cost w/o question. Once I ordered black tuners from him and after I received them, I realized they weren't drop-in replacements for his basses. I suggested that he clarify the description of the tuners and he apologized right away and offered to take the tuners back. I kept the tuners but it felt good.

It's too bad that I will not likely to order an SX bass since the headstock change.....

I would liike to take 5 minutes and say how awesome I think the carvin folks are. I bought a 5 string set of strings, stainless steel, that were awesome. The strings are actually LaBella strings at a significant discount, but unfortunately not always the freshest from LaBella. Long story short I had a bad set of strings and they, Carvin, refunded 2 sets of stale strings from Labella, and I couldn't be happier. I think Carvin is an amazing company that produces great products. enjoy.
