Great Punk Albums

sorry if any of these have already been covered:
Bad Brains - Bad Brains / Black Dots
Dead Kennedys - Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death (...there best album IMHO) / Fresh Fruit For Rotten Vegetables
Four Year Strong - Rise Or Die Trying (...bass gets pretty lost in the mix but still a personal favorite of mine for the pure energy)
Guns Up! - All This Is (...may take some searching for this stuff but it's a GREAT hardcore band with pretty elaborate bass lines)
Rise Against - The Sufferer And The Witness / Appeal To Reason (yeah...so shoot me)
Sublime - 40 oz. To Freedom (VERY hard to beat)
Flipper - Blow'n Chunks
NoFX - Punk In Drublic
Rancid - ...And Out Come The Wolves

...all I can think of off the top of my head. for the BEST back-to-the-roots material, the Dead Kennedy's, the Ramones, Rancid, Bad Religion, the Bad Brains, and Black Flag are where to begin your search for punk music :bassist:

Th'Inbred, great band, pretty bass-centric too. Alternative Tentacles just re-released their complete discography recently so it's easy to get.

I know I'm only s'posed to recommend one thing but I have to second these:

Descendents - Milo goes to College
Nomeansno - Wrong / Why Do They Call Me Mr. Happy
Minutemen - Double Nickels On The Dime

I'm rather partial to the forgotten rebels - In love with the system

it's got some pretty good fundamental musicianship, as well as hilarious satirical lyrics on "bomb the boats feed the fish" as well as "**** me dead"

I think they're a really good classic punk band that had a lot of the satire of the pistols with the commentary and sincerity of the clash.

Lagwagon - "Trashed"

Simply an amazing album, one of my favorites of all time. Thats because when you mix the drumming style of Derrick Plourde with the vocals of Joey Cape , then add Jamie Bugilone ( correct spelling?) on bass and have two melodic but overdriven les paul's the combination is just divine. I can't stop listening.

Happy listening,
-Ron

My favourite Punk albums of all time:

...And out come the wolves-rancid (some great basslines on it too)
The Process of believe -Bad Religion
Dookie - Greenday (the album that started it all for me ;) )
Punk in Drublic - NoFX
Suffer - Bad religion (recently started relistening the album again and found out the bassline are pretty sick on some songs :D)

+1. I wondered if anyone would name this. Pie man must be from southern Ontario.
