Greetings, all. Newbie here with some ambitious ideas

Hey guys! Figured I'd introduce myself. I am a relatively new bassist, with quite a bit of experience on guitar, and i only recently switched over to bass. Bass guitar, I should clarify. I'm loving it, and it rekindled my love for the bass instruments in general. I played baritone horn as well and that is what gave me the ear for and the love for bass (as a register). This led me to consider about the fact that I love the sound of bowed instruments. I figured I may as well get the best of both worlds and make an EUB. I've chosen the EUB for a few different reasons: 1: it's actually somewhat feasible to make (it's not like an acoustic where it is a skill earned over a lifetime of doing it), 2: I can stylistically make it my own, 3: it will provide that bowed sound that I love, and 4: since I'm making it myself, I can make it a 4/4 scale. Yes, I know, they are rare for a reason. I'm 6'4" and a college lineman (football) which means I've got big hands even for my size. I honestly believe it's the proper size for me. My father, an experienced musician and former cellist himself, agrees with me and fully supports this, if that says anything.

I'll be in touch with more questions on and ideas about that EUB. I have a friend with a CNC wood engraver, and I think I'm going to create some art to use as the body. I have many ideas and lots of symbolism planned, I actually was thinking of getting tattoos of these designs, but I think they may be better suited to an instrument.

Good luck with your own projects!
